An Associative Exploration of Capitalism

Capitalism is the most dominating ideology at the present day impacting most aspects of natural and social life. Though its misanthropic and destructive qualities have been revealed over and over since it rose, it is still very successful in concealing its inherent systemic risks and maintaining an uninformed consumerist and materialistic society.

World Docs can be seen as an associative artistic glimps onto the complex interrelations of capitalisms institutional protagonists. It offers a narrative framework that lets others share the fascination, astonishment and anxiety about this economy reality.

World Docs #1
Mapping Natural Resources
Natural Resources form the very basis of our materials economy. Their occurence, mining, trade and depletion have great environmental and geopolitical implications. World Docs #1 collects publicly available data about these implications from various online data resources, including the cia factbook, usgs, wikipedia, and nationmaster.com, and transforms these into a data narrative. This approach results in a boardgame inspired collection of tangible assets - maps, diagrams and information cards - that foster an informed, associative and openended discourse.

World Docs was conceived with Andreas Schlegel. Please refer to Andi s Flickr page and the project page.
